Licence and re-use
Everything here can be copied, translated, printed and redistributed. Only one thing is asked: credit the source. Two families of files exist side by side, and they do not have the same licence: this page says which applies to what.

ODERSA content
The texts of this site, the structure of the boards, the vocabulary lists and the code of the service are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence. You may copy them, modify them, translate them, print them and distribute them, including in a professional or paid setting, without asking our permission.
The wording to reproduce, as it stands:
“Words Within Reach, a service of ODERSA (speak.odersa.org), licensed under CC BY 4.0.”
The symbols are not ours
A symbol is the work of the person who drew it. We claim none of them: we use freely licensed sets, whose licence was read in the file delivered with the set, and we credit them. The detail set by set, with the exact attributions and the addresses of the licence files, is on the page the symbols and on the credits page.
Two families, and the distinction has practical consequences:
- The permissive sets (Twemoji under CC BY 4.0, Material Design Icons under Apache 2.0) ask for attribution, nothing more. They form the core of the service.
- The ShareAlike set (Mulberry Symbols under CC BY-SA 4.0) additionally requires any board that uses it to be distributed under CC BY-SA 4.0 itself. This is why it lives in a separate module that shows its licence: mixing the two families in a single board without saying so would place an invisible obligation on whoever re-uses it.
Re-using a board
- A board made only of symbols from the permissive core is redistributed under CC BY 4.0, crediting ODERSA and the authors of the symbols.
- A board that contains a single Mulberry symbol is redistributed under CC BY-SA 4.0. The service tells you so at the moment you choose that set.
- A printed board carries its notices in the footer: it stays re-usable even when detached from the site.
- The words, the photographs and the boards you add belong to you. They stay on your device, and the file you export is yours: we hold no copy of it.
The name and the seal
The CC BY 4.0 licence covers the content, not the identity of the association. The name ODERSA, the name Words Within Reach and the association’s seal are not to be used in a way that suggests ODERSA supports, endorses or publishes work that is not its own. A faithful reproduction is credited; a modified version presents itself as such.
